Recipients must meet income guidelines to qualify for the Security Deposit Assistance Program. Income may not exceed 50 percent of the median income by household size. Proof of income will be determined through third-party verifications or by examination of source documents evidencing annual income, such as wage statements, interest statements, unemployment compensation statements, etc. The definition of annual income is the gross household income as determined through the income verification process.
Waiting List/Participant Selection Procedures: Applicants who meet income guidelines will receive funding based on date and time of application as long as funding is available. Procedure: The prospective tenant will complete an application to the Huron Housing Authority for Security Deposit Assistance Program and provide required documentation of income. If they meet program eligibility criteria, the rental unit will be inspected to insure that it meets Housing Quality Standards as set forth by 24 CFR 982.401. The security deposit may not exceed the equivalent of one month’s rent. Funds will only be used as security deposits. The tenant must have a written lease of no less than one year. Lease agreements must comply with requirements as set forth in 24 CFR Part 92.253(b).
